 | | VARME EXTEND UNDERFLOOR HEATING RANGE WITH NEW SMALL CABLE MATS | | | Varme | | 18/07/2008 | | | Varme has unveiled its new range of underfloor heating mats which are ideal for use in rooms with a small floor space, but large cubic area - like kitchens with plenty of floor units - and conservatories which suffer from a large loss of heat.
COMPLETE HEATING RANGE NOW AVAILABLE
Until recently, Varme’s smallest 200 watt cable mats were 5 square metres in size, but now they can supply from 1 sq. m. up to 10 sq. m. and every unit in between. These mats are intended for heating tiles, stone, or marble flooring and can also be laid under vinyl, laminate and thin carpets. The addition of these new cable mats means that Varme probably now has the biggest range of electric underfloor heating products and accessories in the UK.
QUICK EASY INSTALLATION
The mats are installed by unwrapping the roll and laying it out across the subfloor. They are self adhesive and once pressed down into position will not move. Any irregular shaped areas, or section of floor that cannot accommodate a full width of mat, can be heated by carefully removing the cable from part of the mesh matting, laying it loose on the floor and fixing it in place with duct tape. Cable mat installation instructions are available from the company to make installation as quick and easy as possible.
SCREED DIRECTLY OVER THE MATS TO FINISH THE JOB
A heating sensor is laid in place on the floor and the mat is connected by a wire to the room thermostat. The mat is then covered with a levelling screed or, if tiles are being fixed, use of a flexible tile adhesive and grout is recommended. In the case of vinyl or thin carpet, a 6 mm self levelling screed must be used to ensure efficient heat distribution through the floor. | |
